Well, today my company announced to its employees that they are shutting the doors. (Well, technically, they're going to still do some stuff, but that doesn't include my department.) That means, yes, I have officially lost my job. I still have a week or two to continue dragging myself into work and pretending I care, but after that, I'm a free bird. I mean, I'm jobless. Yes, I should be upset.
But I'm actually excited! I've been working on my side business for a couple of months now, and I can't help but think that this might be my chance to make a go of it! To work from home! To do all the things I've wanted to do, but haven't because I work full time!
Well, I guess in the next month or so, we'll see what happens. After all, my little baby business might not be able to fill the large hole in our budget. But, I have to try.
Here's to new beginnings and optimism, whether I find myself a new business owner or a new employee somewhere.
I know we'll land on our feet!

P.S. If anyone knows of a job opening for a graphic designer/production person/web person/technical know-it-all/jack of all trades, let me know. I should probably see what's out there, just in case.

Good luck! I wish I could figure out what I wanted to do. In the meantime, its off to work I go!
Wow.. this sounds like an opportunity to me. I know you will find exactly what you're looking fun. Good Luck... btw.. I love the new blog look♥
THANK YOU for being the only person I've seen get laid off in a long time to have a healthy dose of optimism. It's refreshing, it's inspiring, it's great! Most people have just been complaining, so thanks for finding the silver lining and looking ahead instead of backwards. And the best of luck!
You know ... I really believe that what we need comes to us, when we need it. From your post it seems that it just feels right. So ... go for it! Most people think that changes are irreversible ... but it's really not true. We all have tomorrows and if something doesn't work out today, we can try something new tomorrow.
It's exciting and I hope your new business takes off ... big time!
